A Touch of Christmas 2012

Christmas 2012...I can hardly believe it is this time of year again. Where did 2012 go? {shrug} I don't know. This year I decided I needed a different color scheme for my Christmas decorating. I have had the same decorations for I don't know how many years. Oh, I mix it up here and there. You know, put something in a different spot, but that wasn't enough for me this year. So my daughter and I went shopping (oh darn)! And we decided on Tiffany blue for the tree. =)  You know, like the little blue boxes you get from Tiffany's? I've never actually seen one of these boxes, but I know they exist! Ya!

I thought I would share some pictures of my holiday decorating...okay, it's a lot of pictures! Oops! Here goes!

Just a few touches in the dining room. Remember my lovely hutch I gave a makeover to? All she needed was some sparkle and I love know flakes, so snow is the theme in this room. I added glittery snowflakes with just a little tape to lots of things!

I added Epsom salt for snow in the clear vase.

Couldn't leave my snowgirl out..and a glittery purple "present"!

I also added a wreath to the mirror in the dining room with a command hook. I've never used these before, but they seem to work pretty well (I am not being paid to say that, this is not a paid post). This is just a plain wreath and I added poinsettia clips I had on hand to dress it up. I wanted something different from the snowflakes, but these are still the same shape. =)

On to the living/family room. We opted for new stocking this year as well. We must match (apparently).

And since they were all the same we picked up some initial pins to distinguish which belongs to who.

A very easy way to personalize a stocking. And it's reusable!

Now for the fireplace. I had some unlit garland on hand, so I used some of those command hooks and hung it up and did A LOT of fluffing. (Ugh) I picked up some floral picks that are a perfect match to the Tiffany blue and VOILA! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous baby!

And of course...the stockings!

And of course, last, but not least, the Christmas tree! Tiffany blue and silver with white and blue lights. I love it. I couldn't resist the musical note ornaments since both my kids are so very musical. I think of them each time I see one on the tree.

The bows were a perfect filler.

There are a couple of little stockings on the tree for the puppies...can't forget them!

I did something new this year with the tree itself, too. I placed it in an urn I had outside. I cleaned up the urn, put the base of the tree in it, rolled up some old bath towels we no longer use but I still have around and tucked them all around the base so it stands up straight, then added a snow blanket over the top to hide them. I really like this because it lifts the tree up for more room around the bottom.

And there you have it! Christmas at my house! I will probably keep adding a few things here and there over the next week or so. Just seems to be my way. I haven't done anything in the kitchen, so will have to consider that room, too, I guess. But you get the idea. Sorry for the picture overload!

Have you done your Christmas decorating? What is your favorite room to decorate? Thanks for stopping by and keep working on The Finishing Touches.
